  4. What is EarthSun?
  5. ----------------
  6. EarthSun is a unique MicroSoft Windows 3.x program that displays the current
  7. sunlit-side of the Earth in an icon.  You also have the option of showing
  8. the Earth as seen from a point in space directly over where you live, so
  9. you can watch the advancing and retreating shadow traverse the globe.

  11. You can specify the icon's title to display the current time and/or date in
  12. *many* different formats, as well as changing the icon's background color
  13. and rotation direction.  EarthSun even adjusts automatically for daylight
  14. savings/summer time for users in the United States, the UK, and Europe.

  16. EarthSun can display an analog clock (a clock with 'hands') either by
  17. itself or super-imposed on top of the Earth icon, and 3 alarms are also
  18. available to remind you of important appointments.  By double-clicking the
  19. icon, a screen displaying your local Sun and Moon rise and set times is
  20. displayed.

  22. Finally, EarthSun can also be a talking clock/calendar if you have a sound card
  23. installed in your computer.  This feature will "speak" the time and/or date
  24. whenever you want it to (if you have speech software), and it can also play
  25. .WAV files at specified intervals if your computer supports sounds.  For
  26. international and non-English speaking users, the icon title can be
  27. displayed in any one of *56* different languages.

  30. Installing EarthSun
  31. -------------------
  32. Simply use the Program Manager to create a New Program Icon in the group of
  33. your choice and set the "Working Directory" to the subdirectory where you
  34. installed the files.  You may place the EARTHSUN.EXE file in the subdirectory
  35. of your choice, but EarthSun MUST be able to find it's EARTHSUN.INI file.
  36. If it cannot, then the About box will be displayed each and every time you
  37. start the program.  If you have trouble, you may also set the "Working
  38. Directory" to your Windows subdirectory explicitly, or just leave it blank to
  39. have it default to your Windows subdirectory.  See the "Troubleshooting"
  40. section in the on-line help system for more information.

  42. I also highly recommend placing the Program Icon in the "Startup" group so it
  43. loads every time you start Windows.

  45. If you don't already have the file BWCC.DLL, make SURE you copy it to your
  46. Windows system subdirectory and erase any other older copies of it.  See the
  47. file BWCC.TXT for more information.
